Apple Tart

Ingredients:

1 firm apple

1 portion of gluten free puff pastry

5-10g butter

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1.2 tsp sugar

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C

  2. Cut the apple in half, remove the core (with a sharp knife) and then slice (about 2mm thick).  Mix the sugar and cinnamon together.

  3. Roll out the pastry so that it is about 0.5 cm thick.  Cut out a rectangle and place on a baking tray (I have a silicone mat for the baking tray to ensure that the pastry doesn’t stick).

  4. Place the apple slices in the centre, so that they overlap a little.  Cut up the butter into either thin slices or little cubes.  Place them over the apples.  Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.  Brush the sides of the pastry with the beaten egg.

  5. Bake for 25 mins.  Great hot or cold.
