Gammon Steaks with Honey and Mustard Apples
Ingredients:
2 gammon steaks
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp runny honey
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
1 eating apple
25g butter
1 tbsp cider vinegar
Black pepper, to taste
Method:
Put a large frying pan over a high heat.
Snip the rind off the gammon steaks to prevent them from curling up as they cook.
Add the oil to the hot frying pan and cook the steaks for 3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
Meanwhile, combine the honey and mustards in a small bowl.
Turn the steaks over and continue to cook for a further 3 minutes.
Transfer the gammon to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. Set aside.
Quarter the apple, remove the core and cut each quarter in half giving you 8 wedges.
Add the butter and apples to the frying pan and cook for 2 minutes. Pour in the cider vinegar and continue to cook for 1 minute, stirring with a wooden spoon.
Add the honey and mustard mixture and allow to bubble for a further minute. Stir together. Season with black pepper.
Serve the gammon with the warm sticky apples and some of the sauce poured over.
